Royalty - Girello is a Dutch Warm Blood - what they call a 'seal bay'. He's just over 16.1` hands — oversized head and hooves. And giant gentleman. Will ride anyone, rookie or expert. He was trained to fourth level German Dressage and showed up to third level. He had been so good at what he did for his owners, they ended up driving him into an early retirement. And threw him away.
Girello flew over the big lake from Holland when he was 9. A top trainer in So Cal owned, trained and showed him till he was 14. One of her students was retiring her 26 year old Thoroughbred and fell in love with Girello. Rode him for a couple years until she noticed his stress level. Decided to retire him with her older horse. Lisa Jackson was the Executive Producer of "Everyone Loves Raymond" — heard about Ghost Rock and called me. She was persuaded Girello just needed to have a home that would allow him to "just be a horse". He had healed and rested for a year when I took my Mom to drive out to Orange Co to see him. Fell in love at first sight. He was thin — and bored, but relaxed. Lisa spent a pretty penny to ship Girello to the Ranch - first class.
If Girello could speak — he'd have a thick Dutch accent — and he'd tell you he's a serious writer. Novels mostly. He's very sophisticated and wise. Always wants to please. Suffers with the aging of his body, but you'd never know it. He's a dream horse at 20 years old. He's been leased many times — is one of the Ranch Schoolers for both dressage and trail.
"G" is always worthy of a test drive. Come and meet Girello and fall in love. |
