The Helping Hoofs Program

Our amazing, rehabilitated rescue horses are a friendly welcoming herd for those who’d like to learn about horses and enjoy their company.  Equine Wellness is a non-traditional way of learning how horses share their natural ability to help individuals develop self-esteem and a sense of trust and confidence through time and the cultivation of a relationship with a horse. Many people with emotional challenges are able to enjoy and benefit from equine-based programs that promote physical activity and social interaction with horses. Horses provide a “no judgment” zone that provides space for the entire spectrum of feelings and promotes emotional growth for individuals.

The Land

Ghost Rock Ranch is nestled in on the east side of Bend just before you reach the Oregon Badlands Wilderness Area. The Ranch has a very rich producing garden, luscious lavender fields, grass-filled meadows, an abundance of pollinators, a small orchard, riding trails, and of course, many horses, burros, dogs, cats, and an endless number of birds. Don't forget our many ponds and our famous wind phone. The Ranch is always a work in progress - constantly growing into a refuge for any and all.

Ghost Rock is a loving, family-friendly environment. Every time I visit the ranch, the staff welcomes me with open arms. Truly makes me feel like family.
